INSIDE EXHIBITIONS

"IN THE WHITE OF THE SHADE", FINNISH LIGHT ART AT THE PALLAS GALLERY

21.10-21.11.2026

How to explore the inseparable connection between light and shadow? Instead of treating light purely as a revealing force, the exhibition focuses on how light simultaneously creates shadow – how visibility and invisibility exist side by side, shaping perception, memory, and emotional experience.

"IN THE SHADOW OF LIGHT", ESTONIAN GLASS ART IN THE TARTU BOTANICAL GARDEN GREENHOUSE

22.10-21.11.2026

Light is one of those elements that enables growth and sustains life and the joy of living. Shadow is needed for rest and regaining strength, so that at dawn / in spring one can begin chasing the light once more. The same process—if not physically, then mentally—occurs in most people.

"INHERITED LIGHT II" IN THE OUTDOOR AREA OF THE TARTU BOTANICAL GARDEN

22.10-21.11.2026

A collaborative exhibition by the Pallas University of Applied Sciences and the Estonian Sculptors' Union brings together third-year students from the Pallas sculpture department and recognized professional sculptors. The project focuses on the intergenerational exchange of experience and the transmission of professional skills.

"YOU LIE BENEATH IT ALL" TARTU BOTAANIKAAIA KASVUHOONES

22.10-21.11.2026

Our lives depend on soil, yet we rarely think of it as something valuable that needs to be cared for and nourished. In contemporary thinking, soil has been reduced to little more than a place from which to harvest crops, to trample and plough endlessly, and into which to pour waste and debris, because soil seems to tolerate everything. Such an attitude has brought us to a situation where soil fertility has declined drastically, and according to scientists, humanity has, on average, only around sixty harvests left.
