Purpose

As part of the TAVA24 light festival, the Botanical Garden of the University of Tartu will host an architectural lighting workshop. The aim of the workshop is to provide students, lighting design enthusiasts and professional lighting designers with "hands-on" work experience under the guidance of internationally acclaimed IALD lighting designers, from the development of the concept to the finished construction of installations, and to provide training on the main topics of lighting design.

The workshop offers an interesting challenge for designers and planners, but is also useful for the city government, offering the opportunity to see and experience different lighting solutions on a 1:1 scale before making more in-depth investments.

Tegevused

  • Participation in lectures and presentations: workshop instructors will provide an overview of the entire process and share information on the latest trends in the field.
  • Compilation of site-specific analysis: Researching and analyzing the location and history of workshop objects, both during the day and at night, to understand the site and its context in depth.
  • Creation of the concept: with the help of instructors, creative cooperation is carried out among themselves to develop the concepts of light installations.
  • Creation and testing of prototypes: sketches and prototypes are created, different materials and lighting solutions are tested in order to realize your ideas.
  • Construction of installations: full-scale light installations of the urban space are built at the selected location.
