Tartu Light Biennale TAVA or Tartu in Light is a comprehensive, international, multidisciplinary festival of light and illumination art. The biennale takes place over a year and TAVA26 is the fifth in a row.

The main program of TAVA26 consists of light educational workshops, outdoor light installations, concerts, and indoor exhibitions. This is supplemented by a side program developed in cooperation with Tartu cultural institutions and companies. Together, Tartu will be transformed into a World of Light, which will act as an inviting beacon during the darkest time in the Nordic region, attracting culture enthusiasts to Southern Estonia.

Along with workshops, exhibitions and side programs, various TAVA26 events will last for a month, but the main events will take place on only three evenings 22.-24.10.2026 at 19:00-23:00

NB! At the request of families with children, we will open the area as early as 18:00, but the greenhouse installations can be viewed from 19:00.

The axis exhibiting TAVA26 light installations begins at the Tartu University Botanical Garden and moves along the old town up to Toomemägi, to the ruins of the Cathedral.
